Author's Purpose - Christopher Columbus Biography
Authors can have various purposes for their writing. The author of the BrainPOP video on Christopher Columbus wanted to INFORM the reader about the life of Christopher Columbus. The author included information about Columbus’ contributions as well as some mistakes that Columbus made. In your post, list at least one positive character trait of Columbus that the author informed you about as well as one negative character trait. Be sure to use complete sentences with proper capitalization and punctuation. End your post with a sentence justifying your opinion of whether we should honor Columbus with a national holiday.

A negative about Columbus is he was hurtful and mean to the Bahamas and took their food and stuff and Columbus made the Bahamas his slave. I think we should have a holiday for Columbus because he is a very good person and he really tried his best on traveling around the world. He did do bad stuff in the past but he is still a good person and I trust him very very much.

One positive of Columbus was he was brave and landed to different lands. One negative of Columbus was he was taking their gold. I think we should have a holiday because he was helping them and never gave up.

i think it was nice of Chistapher Colombus to find an easier way to get to the new word.But it was not very nice of him to make the native Americans his slave.o think Christopher Colombus is a bully,but still with heart.
ReplyDeleteI could see how Christopher Columbus could be a hero to Spain. He did discover new land for his country and bring back some gold to help with money problems. I could also see how he could have been a bad person for the Native Americans. He took things from the land that didn't belong to him or even his country. I think he was a bad person. He did things that cannot be forgiven.

ReplyDeleteOne really great and helpful thing Christopher Columbus did is that he found a new route to South America without a new route,South America would have been found much later.One very horrible thing is that he took slaves! people should be free and live in peace.All in all , I think he was a bully.
ReplyDeleteOne of the nice things Christopher Columbus did was he obeyed his king and queen when they told him to explore a new route to Asia.One of the bad things Christopher Columbus did was when he landed on the Bahamas he tried to claim land even though people already lived there.I think Christopher Columbus is a hero because he had the perseverance to find a route to Asia even when people said he couldn't do it.
